The biomass continuous drum biochar reactor is a specialized pyrolysis equipment that performs dry distillation and oxygen-free pyrolysis of small-sized biomass materials—such as coconut shells, sawdust, wood chips, rice husks, bamboo, eucalyptus, coffee residues, palm shells, peanut shells, sunflower seed shells, and more—under precisely controlled high-temperature conditions to produce high-quality agricultural-grade biochar.
The reactor adopts advanced technology for the recycling, purification, and circulating combustion of combustible gases (such as methane, carbon monoxide) generated during the biomass pyrolysis process. This innovative design not only eliminates the heavy smoke pollution associated with conventional carbonization furnaces but also fully meets the equipment’s own heat energy requirements, achieving complete self-sufficiency. By efficiently converting agricultural and forestry residues into premium biochar, the system turns waste into valuable resources for soil enhancement, long-term carbon sequestration, improved water and nutrient retention, and sustainable agriculture—making a significant contribution to environmental protection and the greening of the planet.
Carbonization equipment which can carbonize coconut shell, walnut shell, apricot shell, hemp pole, sawdust, sawdust, rice husk, bamboo, eucalyptus, mushroom residue, medicine residue, furfural residue, coffee residue, palm shell, peanut shell and sunflower seed shell in the carbonization machine under high temperature conditions. Raw materials are heated in a carbonization furnace under oxygen‑limited conditions. The organic matter undergoes pyrolysis, removing volatile components, and finally forming solid biomass charcoal. The carbonization temperature and holding time directly affect the quality of finished charcoal. The charcoal powder is mixed with an appropriate amount of binder, and extruded by a briquette machine under high pressure to form regular charcoal sticks or charcoal blocks. The density and molding rate of the finished product can be controlled by adjusting the pressure and feeding speed. Raw materials with high moisture content need to be dried first. The drying system removes free water in the material to ensure that the moisture is controlled within 8‑12%, which avoids cracking and poor molding during subsequent carbonization and briquetting processing.

1.The biomass continuous drum biochar reactor is a professional piece of equipment that continuously heats and pyrolyzes biomass under oxygen-free or oxygen-deficient conditions to produce high-quality agricultural-grade biochar. It consists of a biochar reactor, a preheating burner (natural gas, diesel, or LPG), a combustible gas purification and recycling system, an external heating furnace, feeding conveyor, biochar cooler, and a fully automated power distribution and control system.
2.The interior of the biochar reactor is divided into four functional zones: drying zone, heating zone, pyrolysis zone, and controlled calcination zone. Biomass is continuously fed into the reactor drum via a sealed conveyor. First, the material is dried and preheated to above 250°C using the furnace’s internal heat environment. It then enters the high-temperature pyrolysis zone (typically 400–550°C, adjustable) where oxygen-free pyrolysis occurs. Finally, the biochar undergoes a controlled high-temperature finishing stage to achieve the desired agricultural quality—optimizing fixed carbon content, porosity, and surface functional groups—before completing the pyrolysis process.
3.The drum is equipped with an air outlet and a sealed discharge box. The combustible gases (methane, carbon monoxide, ethane, etc.) produced during pyrolysis are discharged through the air outlet, then purified by removing wood tar, wood vinegar, water, and ash. The cleaned combustible syngas is sent to the external heating furnace for full combustion, providing the heat required by the reactor. This closed-loop recycling system achieves complete self-sufficiency in energy, ensures continuous and stable production, and significantly reduces emissions. The finished biochar is discharged from the box into the biochar cooler, where it is rapidly cooled by water to below 40°C for safe handling and storage. Any excess combustible gas can be used for raw material drying or exported as clean fuel, further enhancing the overall energy efficiency and environmental performance of the system.
